Rich Weidman moved to Orlando, Florida, in 2001 after spending seven years in North Carolina, where he coauthored The Insiders' Guide to the Triangle and served as the editor of several regional travel guides, including The Insiders' Guide to Charlotte, Daytrips and Weekend Vacations in North Carolina and Daytrips and Weekend Vacations in South Carolina.
